Dasakam 5  Story  of Sudhymna

(This story is related  in the beginning   of Chapter 12 of book  1 of Devi Bhagwatha    which  deals with the birt of Pururuvas(son of Sudhyumna)   .It has been told there  that sage   Vasishta  told the Sudhymna    the story of the Goddess  in nine days , and these  nine days is later  believed   to have become the B Navarathri festival  . In the second sloka  of this dasakam, there is a mention of Ilavrutha  , the continent   created by Goddess Parvathi, where  only females are there .Any male  entering there  would become a  female )

1.Jathaa suthelaa  manu sapthamasya,
Samprarthithonena Muni Vasishta,
Shambho  kadakshena  suthaam Kumaram,
Chakre   sa kalena  Babhuva raja.

1.Forthe seventh Manu a daughter  called Ila   was born,
Due to his   prayers  sage Vasishta,
By the  grace of Lord Shiva  made that daughter in to a son,
And  with the  passing of wheel of time  , he became a king

2.Sudhymna nama  mrugayaa  vihari,
Gatho  hayaarooda ilavrutham sa,
Sthreethwam   puna prapya  sutham himasor,
Vavre pathim  puthrama  sutha cheshaa.

2.His name  was Sudhyumna   and  when he went for hunting,
Riding on a horse  he reached Ilavrutha,
And he then again became a lady  and chose ,
The sun of moon as her  husband and gave him a son.

3.Nyavedayath saa  Gurave Vasishta,
Yeshaa kadhachin nija pumsthva kamam,
Thath  sadhanartha harameva dadhyou,
Muni  prasannastha muvacha  Shambhu.

3.She    , one day   she requested  Guru Vasishta,
To    make her take her real form ,
And for achieving that , he meditated on Lord Shiva,
And gladdened by the sage  Lord  Shiva  told him.

4.Ilaavrutham Maa purusha  prayaathu .
Prayaathi cheth  sosthwa  abala thadhaiva.
Yevam  mayaa  nischithameva saumya,
Gauryaa  prasaadaaya bhavaan priyo may.

4.”No male should ever  enter  the place called Ilavrutha,
If he enters, he would  immediately   become a lady”
This has been decided  by myself  for happiness  of Parvathi,
But you   are one whom I like well.

5.Na paksha bedhathra mamaaasthi ,Gauri,
BHavaamscha  trupthou bhavathaam  madheeyou,
Itha param   thasya manorapathyam,
Maasam puman   syaadh  vanitha cha  masam.

5.In this matter  I cannot   take   sides and  since,
Goddess  Parvathi is also    likes  you like me,
From now on  , this   child of  king Manu,
Would  be man for a month and lady   for the next.

6.Yevam Shivokthenamanopathyaam,
Labdhwaa  cha pumasthawam   dharaneen shashaasa.
Sthreethwe   cha harmyeshu  ninaya  kalam,
Jano  na chainam   Nrupamabhya  nandhath.

6. As per   the words  of lord Shiva  , the child of Manu,
Got back his male form and ruled   the country,
And during the time    when he was a lady ,
She spent his time  in his home and due to this,
The people  of the country   did not respect  him.

7.Purooravasyaa athma sutho arpayithwaa,
Rajyam   viraktho  vanamethya bhoopa,
Sri Naradaath   labdha na vaarna  manthro,
BHkthyaa  na dadhyou  bhava tharineem thwaam.

7.That king who  was not interested in  the job of a king,
Gave the country to his son Pururuvas  and went to the  forest,
And there   got Navarnava  manthra *   from Sage Narada,
And  started showing   devotion to you  ,
Who can help him    cross  the ocean   of Samsara.
*“Om Iym hreem  kleem  Chamundaya Viche.”

8.Simhadhi aaroodam   Arunabja nethraam,
Thwaam   suprasannaam abhivikshya nathvaa,
Sthuthwaa  cha bhakthyaa  sthira pumsthvamesha,
Lebha adha saayujyamavaapa   chaanthe.

8. You  who rode on a lion   and had a  red lotus like eyes,
Became very pleased   with his devotion   and appeared  before him,
And he saluted you and with devotion praised   you,
And got permanent  male state and at the end attained salvation

9.Sourya  na veeya  na cha  poursham may,
Naivaasthi   na sthree sahajaa  thithiksha,
Moodo na  jaanamyashubham  shubham cha,
DEyam  thwayaa  may Shubhameva  mathaa

9.I do  not have bravery nor  bravery like a male,
And I do not have patience   which is quality of ladies,
I am not able to understand  good or bad ,
And so mother   grant  me only what is good.

10.Pasyaani matha pravaraan gurum sthe  ,
Kaarunyatho  maam supadhaa nayanthu,
Sathsanga sambhavitha chitha   vruthir,
BHavani they devi nama  praseedha.

10.Oh Mother  I should be able to see  well known Gurus,
And  due to his mercy I should   travel on the good path,
And I should h get a clean mind   due to   good  friends,

Oh Bhavani , Oh Goddess , get pleased with me.

Dasakam 6 Vyasa -Narada Samagama(Meeting of Vyasa and Narada)

(From this Dasakam  , the story of sage Sukha  is told  (Book I chapter IV)  . In this chapter an introduction to sage Vyasa   is given and it is described as   to how he wanted a child badly.Sage Narada   advices him to to  Thapas   addressed   to Parasakthi ..Accordingly   he climbs   the Mery mountain to do the  Thapas.)

1.THwad ichaya   Devi Pulasthya vaachaa,
Parasarraadha Vishnu purana  Karthu,
Muner  Harir Loka hithaaa Dheepadh,
Yadhaa Pradhi pojaani  Krishna nama.

1.Oh Goddess As per your desire  and advice of  sage Pulasthya,
Sage Parasara    compiled   an epic called Vishnu  Purana
And got  a son  named  Krishna  who was a lamp  lit
From the lamp of Vishnu, for the benefit  of the world

2.Vedam Chathurthaavidadhath   sa Krishna-,
Dwaipayanou  Vyasa   ithi prasidha,
Vedantha   soothraani  Puraana jaalam,
Mahethihasa  chamahamscha kara.

2.That Krishna Dwaipayana was  well known as sage Vyasa,
Because   he  compiled , systematized  and divided Vedas in to four,
He also composed   Vedantha   suthras  , Puranas,
And also wrote   great  and well known epics.

3.Thapa  pravrutha kalavingapotham,
Maathraa  sa  sam laalithamasramanthe  ,
Pasyannadhanyaa   mana pathyathaam   swam,
Saputhra bhagyathisayam   cha dadhou.

3.He who was engaged  in Thapas  in his hermitage ,
Say  little sparrows   being fed by their mother  sparrow,
And was thinking   about  unsatisfied state   of childlessness,
And the luck state of others who had   sons.

4.SAthputhralaabhaaya   thapaschikeersha,
Sthreethwam   maha meru   sameepamethyaa,
Aaraadhaneeya ka  ithi  kshanam  sa,
Chinthathuro loka  guru  sthitho abhooth.

4.He who was a teacher  of the world  got ready,
To do great Thapas     for the sake  of getting a son,
And reached  by the side of Maha meru mountain,
And for a minute stood benumbed  ,
Thinking   as to which God  should be worshipped.

5.Sri Narada  sthathra  samagathasthwath ,
Krupaa kadakshang kurvan Maharashi,
Arghyadhi sampoojitha aasanastho,
Vyaasena   prushta prahannivaaha.

5.Due to merciful glance    at that time  ,
The sage called  Narada  arrived there.
And he was offered   water , worshipped and given a seat,
And with a smile he started  giving answer to questions of Vyasa.

6.Kim chinthayaa Krishna bhajaswa devim,
Krupaavathi vaanchitha  dhana dakshaa,
Ahethuresha khalu  sarvahethur,
Nirastha samyaathisayaa  nireehaa,

6>why this thought Krishna  , worship the Goddess ,
Who is merciful ,  is great in fulfilling   your desires
And is the  cause  of everything.She does not have desires,
Has none who is equivalent to her and does not have any cause.

7.SAishaa  maha sakthirithi   prasidhaa,
Yadaajnayaa  Brahma Ramesa  Rudraa,
Brahmanda  sargaa sthithi samhruthischa,
Kurvanthi   kale   na cha   they swathanthraa.

7.She who is like that is famous in the name of Mahasakthi,
And  it is due to her   orders that Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva,
Are creating  , looking after  and destroying the universe,
And because of it   they are  not independent.

8.Yasyaascha   they sakthibireva sarva-,
Karmaani   kurvanthi  sura suraadhyaa,
Marthyaa mrugaa  Krishna pathathrinascha,
Shakther  vidheyaa  ka ihaa vidheya.

8.They also  are performing all acts due to the power,
Of That Sakthi and Oh Krishna,  devas, asuras  and others,
Humans   animals   and birds follow her desire,
.Who is there  who do not  obey  her completely.

9.Prathyaksha mukhyair  na cha saapramaanair,
Jneyaa  thapobhi  kadinair vruthaischa,
Na Veda sastra adhyayanena chaapi,
BHakthyaiva jaanaathi  pumaan mahesim.

9. .She cannot be known  by  well evident   rules,
Very   hard thapas, by penances and it cannot be said,
That by learning Vedas   and Sastras  you can know about her,
And human beings   come to know about her  only through devotion.

10.Thaameva bhakthyaa  sathatham bhajaswa,
Sarvaarthadhaam  Krishna  Thavasthu bhadram,
Ithyoochushi Brahma suthe gathe   sa,
Vyasthapordha  giri meru roha.

10.Oh Krishna you yourself   sing about her with devotion,
For she is the one    who gives everything. You please  be safe,
After telling   this when sage Narada   departed,
That Vyasa started  climbing Meru mountain to do thapas.

11.Ihasmi parayaakula   chitha  vruthir,
Gurum na pasyaami  mahathamam cha,
SAnmaargatho maam  naya  Viswamatha.
Praseedha may  thwaam saranam vrujaami.

11.Now here  with mind engaged   in various thoughts,
I am not able to see either  guru   or  great souls,
Oh mother of the universe  make me walk in the right path,

Be pleased with me and I am surrendering to you.

Dasakam 7 -Shuka Uthpathi (Birth of sage Shuka)

 ( The birth of sage Shuka  is described. While    sage Vyasa   ants him to adopt   the   duties of householder  , Sage Shukha was not interested, Sage Vyasa   sheds tears. This   is another part of  Chapter XIV of book I)

1.Krishnasya thayaranitha Sukhakhyaa,
Sthava prasadaadhajanishta puthra,
Hrushto munir   mangala  karma   chakre,
Thannadhitheyo  vavrushu  sumaani.

1.As your divine gift  Shuka   was born  ,
From the fire place  to Krishna dvaipayana ,
And he joyously  observed   several auspicious rituals,
And devas  caused a rain of flowers there.

2,Kechij jagu  kechana  vaadhya gosham,
 Chakruscha naake nanruthu sthriyascha,
Vaayur vavou sparsa sukha sugandha,
Shukodhbhave sarva janaa  prahrushtaa.

2.Some   devas sang , some played  musical instruments,
Ladies   danced, pleasant breeze wafted  with pleasant scent,
And at the birth of Sukha   all people   became  happy.

3.Bala sa sadhyo vavrudhe  suchethaa,
Brahaspatheratha samastha  vidhyaa,
Dathvaa vinetho guru dakshinaam cha ,
Prathyagatho harshayathi sma thaatham.

3.That boy  grew up very fast and  he,
Who was intelligent learnt all  knowledges,
From Brahaspathi, gave him “Teachers fee”,
With humility and  drowned  his father  in joy.

4.Yuvanmekaanthapa pravrutham,
Vyasa  kadachith  shukamevasmooche,
Vedamscha sasthraani cha  vethsi puthra,
Kruthwaa vivaaham  bhava sadruhastha.

4.Once Vyasa  spoke like   this to  the lad Shuka ,
Who used to  meditate  alone, “Hey son,
You already  know Vedas   and Sastras,
Please get married and be a householder.

5.SArvaasramaanaam  kavayo visishta,
Gruhasramam  sresta tharam vadanthi,
Thamasritha sthishtathi loka yesha,
Yajaswa devaan   vidhivath  pithrumscha.

5.Very great wise people  are telling  that,
The position of  house holder  is greatest,
And this world agrees to that  and observes  it,
And that also causes  pleasure to devas  and manes.

6.THavaasthu  sathputhra rinadaham   cha,
Muchyeya maam thwam  sukhinamm kurushwa,
Puthra sukha yaathra parathra cha syaath,
THwaam  puthratheevrair labhe thapobhi.

6.Let a good son be born to you  making me free  of debt,
And let  the son  make me    and   you   have a happy life
In this as well   as the other   world and oh son,
It was due to very tough Thapas    that I got you.

7.Kincha pramaadhini  sadendriyaani,
Haranthi   chitham   prasabham narasya,
Pasyan pithaa may jananeem thapasvi,
Parasarepi  smara mohitho abhooth.

7.Not only   that  , the senses  which cannot be controlled,
Are stealing   the mind of man  with force and shaking them,
And even mu father  Parasara  who was   a great sage,
Was attracted   as soon as he saw my mother.

8.Ya  aasramadhasramamethi  thathath-,
Karmaani  kurvan  sa sukhi sadaa syaath,
Gruhasramo  naiva cha bandha hethu,
Sthvayaa cha  dheeman kriyathaam vivaha.

8.He goes from one stage  of life to other,
Doing the  duties  of that stage  of life,
Would always  have a life filled  with pleasure,
The stage of life of a householder  does not create  ties,
And  so Oh great one    you get  yourself married.

9. Evam bruvaanopi   Sukham Vivahaa-
Dhyasakthamaajnayaa pitheva  Raagi,
Purana  karthaa cha jagat guru sa,
Maya nimagno aasru vilochanobhooth.

9.Even after telling all  this realizing ,
That Sukha does  not have liking to marriage,
Being his father   as well  as teacher  of the world,
Just like an ordinary father, caught in illusion , shed  tears.

10.BHogeshu may  nispruhan asthu maathaa,
Pralobhithomaa  karavaani paapam,
Maa bhadathaam  maam   thava  devi mayaa,
Maayadhinadhe sathatham namasthe

10.Oh mother, let me get  detached from sensory enjoyment,
Let me not get   attachment   and  start doing sins,
Oh Goddess, let your  maya not affect me,

Oh  Goddess who rules over Maya, Always to you my salutations.

Dasakam 8  Parama Jnanopadesam (Teaching  of  divine  knowledge)

(The teaching about the  need   and importance   of house holder  by sage Vyasa  to his son continues,,Sage Shukha marries  and begets 4 sons and a daughter. He gives  his daughter  in marriage to another sage and adopts  Sanyasarama. This is a part of  Chapter XV of book I   of Devi Bhagwatham)

1.Adhaha  Krishna   srunu   chinthayaa alam,
Grahasramasthe na cha  bandha kruth syaath,
Bandhasya   mukthescha mano hi hethur,
Manojayaartha bhaja viswa dathrim.

1.Again sage Vyasa  told, do not think too much  and obey me,
The life of householder   would not tie you up,
For  mind is the  prime reason for  bondage as
well as freedom,
For  winning over the mind please worship  the mother  of universe.

2.Yasyaa prasaadhe   saphalam  samastham,
Yadaprasaadhe  viphalam samastham,
Mahathmyamasya viditham jagathsu,
Mayaa krutham Bhagwatham   srunu thwam.

2.If she is pleased   everything   is possible and if,
She is not pleased everything   is of  no use at all,
You have to hear  the greatness  of the goddess,
In a world  famour book bHagawatham written by me.

3.Vishnur jagathyeka samudhra  leene,
Bala sayano  vata pathra   yeka,
Swabalathahethu  vichara  magna,
Susraava  kamapya sareeri vaachaam.

2.Alone when Lord Vishnu as a single boy child  ,
Was floating on a banyan leaf   over  the   ocean,
And when he was wondering as   to how  he became a child,
He happened   to hear  a voice  not emanating from any body. 

4.Sanathanam sathyamaham   madhanyath,
SAthyam   na cha  syaadhahameva   sarvam,
Sruthvedamunmeelitha drushtiresha ,
Smithaananam   thwaam jananim   dadarsa.

4. I am the  only primeval   truth which is permanent,
No truth  exists    which is different from me,
And when he opened    his eyes and Saw ,
He saw you as  his mother who is smiling.

5.Chathurbujaa  sankha gadhari padma,
DHaraa krupaadhyai   saha sakthi jalai,
Sthithaa jaloparyamalaambaraa thwam,
Prahrushta   chitham Harimeva Mathda.

5.You are having four hands    and hold in them,
Conch , mace  , wheel and    the lotus flower,
You wear  very pure   and clean cloth.
You with characters  like mercy  and stand on water,
With the flame of Shakthi and  you spoke,
Like this   to lord Vishnu who was having joy filled mind.

6.Kim vismayonachyutha , vismruthaaham,
Thwayaa  paraa sakthi mahaa  prabhaavath,
Saa nirgunaa  vaang manasora  Gamya,
Maam  Sathveekim  sakthi mavehi lakshmim.

6.Oh Krishna   why are you surprised? Due to ,
The great power of the divine Shakthi  you forgot about me,
That Goddess  without properties cannot be reached by words  or mind,
I am her peaceful aspect  Lakshmi, please understand this.

7.Sruthasthwayaa  yasthwa sareera   sabdho,
Hithaya  they   deva  thayaa sa uktha,
Ayam hi sarva sruthi sasthra  saaro,
Maa vismareva  idhi rakshaneeyam.

7.The sound   from no where  which was  heard by you,
Is meant for your future good and has been told by that  divine Shakthi,
Oh God  , is this not   the summary of all Vedas  and Sastras,
And  this which should be securely  stored in the mind should never be forgotten.

8.Naatha param  jneyamavehi kinchid,
Priyosi devyaa  srunu mey vachasthwam,
Thwam nabhi pamaad druhino bhaveth sa,
Karthaa  jagat palaya thath samastham.

8.After knowing there is nothing   that need to be understood,
Understand this, you are dear  to the mother  Sakthi,
Please hear  what I say.From fyou belly button  Lord Brahma,
Would be born and create the universe  and you have to protect it.

9.Broo madhyatha padma bhavasya  kopaad,
Rudro  bhavishyan  sakalam harescha,
DEvim   sadaa  samsmara thesthu bhadra-,
Mevam   nigadhyaasu  thirodhadh.

9.Rudra who  is going to be born out of anger  from,
The middle part of eye brows of Brahma would destroy everything,
Always  meditate on  Goddess  well,  Good would come  to you,
Saying this   she speedily   disappeared   from there.

10.Harer idham  jnana majasya labdha-,
Majaath   surarshescha thatho mamaapi,
Mayaa thwidham   vistharatha suthoktham,
Yath surayo  v bhagawatham vadanthi.

10.This divine knowledge was got by Brahma from Vishnu,
From Brahma to  sage Narada  and from him to me,
I only described   it in a complete manner 
And learned people called it BHagawatha

11.DEvyaa  mahaathwam   khalu  varnayathe   athra,
Yad bhakthimapthasya gruhe na bandha,
Yad V BHakthi heenasthva grahepi  badho,
Rajaapi  muktho janako grahastha.

11.In that I have described    the greatness ,
Of the  Goddess  in a  special manner  .
Those who have devotion to    goddess  would not  ,
Have any desire   to the home and to the one  who lacks devotion,
Even if he is not a householder, he would  get attached.
King Janaka though a householder   was a devotee also.

12.Videha rajam   thamavapya prushtva,
Swadharma  Sankha parihrutha   dheera,
Phaloshvasaktha kuru karma  thena ,
Karmakshaya syaath   thava  badramasthu.

12.You    go and approach   that king Janaka, ask him,
About the dharma  that you have to follow  , clear your doubts,
And wth a stable mind, without   any expectations, do your duty,
Due to that Karma   would get destroyed and you will lead a happy life..

13,Srutvethi   sadhya shukra aasramaath sa,
Prasthaayavaidehapuram  samethya,
Prathyudgatha sarva janer nrupaaya,
Nyavedhayath  swagamanasya  hethum.

13.As  soon as he heard this  Suka started   from the hermitage,
Reached   the land of king Janaka where  he was welcomed by all,
And there he approached   the king Janaka and told him,
The reason why he has   come   to meet him.

14,Grahastha  dharmasya mahathwamasmaadh,
Vijnaaya dheemaan  sa shukro nivrutha,
Pithrasramam  prapya suthaam pithroonaam,
Vyase athi hrushte garhinim chakara.

14,After learning    about the Dharma   of the  life,
Of the householderand its greatness , that,
Very wise Shuka eturned   back to  the hermitage ,
Of his father, made his father  happy ,
And married   the daughter(beevari)   of his manes.

15,  Uthpadha  puthram schathura suthaam cha ,
Grahastha dharman  vidhinaa aacharan sa,
Pradhaya chainaam  munaya anuhaaya,
Babhoova  kale   krutha  sarva kruthya.

15.He then produced  four sons and a daughter,
And after   following the dHarma  of householder  properly,
At the proper time  gave his daughter in marriage to Anuha,
And  thus   completed    all his  duties   properly.

16.HIthwaasramam  thathamap eesa saila,
Srunge thapaswi  sahasothpadhan khe ,
Babhou  sa baaswaan iva  thad viyoga  ,
Khinnam   shivo   vyasamasanthva yadhya.

16.After going   away from the  hermitage   and his father,
He did thapas on the peak of God’s mountain , rose  suddenly,
On to the sky  and shined   like   the sun God and ,
Lord Shiva consoled Sage Vyasa   who was sad at the  parting with his son.

17. SArvathra   sankha kulameva   chitham,
Mameha  vikshipthamadheeram aartham,
Karthavya moodosm i  sadaa sg hive maam,
Dheeram   kuru thwam varadhe  namasthe,

17.My mind now is completely filled with doubts
And is also unstable , greatly worrying   as well as,
Filled  with doubts, Oh consort   of Lord Shiva,
I always am  not  aware   of all my duties.
Please make brave and Oh goddess who gives,

My salutations   to you  ,

(After Madhu and Kaidabha are killed, the  Goddess  summons Lord Shiva also and the trinity is taken in an aero plan to her place residence ( the Mani dweepa  an island  in the ocean of nectar.The trinity nervously enter the home of the  Goddess  , prayinfg to her,This story is told  in Chapter II and III   of Book 3  of the Devi Bhagawatha)

1.Yekarnavesmin  jagathi praleene,
Daithyo Harir Brahma vadodhyathou   thou,
Jagana devi  thwad anugrahena,
THwadichayai vaaga madanna rudra

1.Oh Goddess  when the entire  universe  was dissolved in water,
Due to your blessings Lord Vishnu   could kill,
Those   two asuras    who were ready to kill Brahma,
And Rudra came and reached  there  as  per your desire.

2,Yeko vimanasthara saagathga Khaath,
Trimoorthya vijnatha gathisthwadheeya,
Thwad prerithaa aarooruha sthamethe,
SA chthpathan  vyaagni chachara  seegram,

2.Air vehicle whose  travel direction  was not known to the trinity,
Which was the one owned by you came down ,
From the sky to that place and as per your  encouragement,
The trinity sat in it and it rose  up and started flying fast.

3.Vaimanikaschadgathaya sasakram,
Dhivam  sapadyodbhava sathya  lokam,
Sarudra kailasamami savishnu,
Vaikuntamapyuth pulakaa apasyan.

3.They who were travelling  up  in that   air vehicle,
Passed  the heaven  along with Indra, the Sathya loka,
Along with lord Brahma, The Kailasa    along with Rudra ,
Vaikunta along  with Vishnu and very greatly happy.

4.Adrushta poorva nitharaam  sthri moorthin,
Sthaanaani  theshamapi   Drushtavantha,
Trimurthy yastha na vimohamapu ,
Prapthou   Vimanascha Sudha samudhtram.

4.When those three  Gods   saw   those  Trinity,
AS well as   their places  of residence
Whom they have not seen earlier were surprised,
And the air vehicle reached the ocean of nectar.

5.Thwad broolathaa lola tharanga maalaam,
Thwadheeya mandasmitha charu phenam,
Thwan manjumanjeera mruduswanaadyam  ,
THwad pada yugmopama soukhyadham cha.

5.That ocean was  having tides  like your moving eyebrows,
Had foam which was like   your  pretty   smile, Produced,
Soft  sound like your  golden anklets and,
Was pleasurable  like   your twine   feet.

6. Than madhyasthe  dadrusur vichithra-,
Prakara naanaa drulatha paritham,
Sthaanam  mani dweepamadrushta poorvam,
Kramaahn shive  thwaam   cha sakhisamethaam.

6.Oh Goddess Parvathi  those divine   trinity,
Saw the Mani dweepa which was surrounded  by
Peculiar forts , plants and climbers,
Which they had  not seen earlier  and in that,
They saw the n mother goddess  surrounded by her  friends.

7.Jnaathwaa  drutham thwaam  hariraaha dhatha-,
Svrinethra dhanyaa  vayamadhya noonam,
Sudhaa samudhro ayam analp punyai,
Praapyaa  jagan mathru   nivasa boomi.

7.Recognising    the mother goddess  speedily  Vishnu  said,
“Hey Brahma, Hey three  eyed Shiva, we are blessed today,
This definitely   is the  ocean of nectar where  lives,
The mother of universe. This can be reached only few blessed o people.

8.saa drusyathe ragi janai drusyaa,
Madhe nishanna bahu sakthi yuktha,
Yeshaiva druk  sarvamidham  cha drusya ,
Mahethureshaa  khalu sava  hithu.

8.That   devi who cannot be seen by  those people,
With passion and hatred  is seen here  lying  on her bed,
Surrounded by  several powerful,  SAkthis.

9.Bala   sayano  vata pathra eka  ,
Ekarnve apasyamimaam  smithaasyaam,
Yayiva mathraa  parilalithoha,
Menaam   samstharthiharam   vrujema.

9.A young child   sleeping on a banyan tree leaf,
In the place filled with water  saw this goddess  with a smiling face,
And  he was  nurtured   and looked after  by her,
Who is the mother who removes all  sorrows.

10.Rudjyaamahe  dwari   yadhi  sthuvaamaa-,
Sthathra sthithaa  yeva vayam Mahesim,
Ithyachyuthenabhi hithe   vimana ,
Stavadropura dwaramavaapa   devi.
10.When Lord Vishnu was   telling that, If we,
Are stopped at the gate, we would pray  the goddess,
Who is great from there o itself and at that time ,
Oh Goddess  the air vehicle  reached your tower,

11,Aayamyaham   chitha nirodha   roopa,
Vimanathasthe padam  advitheeyam,
Na kena chid rudra gatho bhavani  ,
Thwameva  Matha   saranam vrujami.

11. I am coming    to your matchless  position,
In the air vehicle  of mental fantasy  , OhGoddess,
I should not be prevented   there by any one,

Oh Mother , I would only   surrender   to you.

(As soon as the trinity enter her house   they all become females. They were three  Sakthi forms  of the divine  Parasakthi.  The Para sakthi then gave Saraswathi to Brahma, Lakshmi to  Lord Vishnu  and SAthi devi  to Lord Shiva.This again occurs   in chapters Ivand V of Book III  of the Devi Bhagawatham)

1.Thatho vimanaadh aja Vishnu Rudra,
Stavad gopura dwarya aaruhya sadhya,
Sthriya Kruthaa   devi thwechayaiva,
SA vismayaastha nikatam  sameeyu.

1.Oh Goddess   , afterwards  Brahma, Vishnu  ,
And Rudra got down from the air vehicle,
And as soon as  they got down near  your tower gate,
With your  desire became ladies ,
And with great  wonder   came  near you.

2.Krutha pranaama sthava   pada yugma ,
Nakheshu viswam   prathi bimbitham they,
Vilokya saascharyamamogha vaagbhi,
Prudhak prudhak  thustuvarambike  THwaam.

2.They saw that  the entire universe  was getting reflected,
In the nail  of your feet, when they    saluted you,
And were greatly surprised   and Oh mother  they  ,
Individually  prayed to you  using remarkably    great words.

3, Nuthi prasanna   nija sarga sakthim,
Maha  saraswathya abhidhamajaaya,
Rakshartha sakthim  haraye mahaala-,
Kshmyaakhyam   cha leelaa nirathe dhadhaadha


3.Oh Goddess   who is always engaged   in sports,
Became happy  on hearing   their prayers   and you gave,
Your  own creative power  called Saraswathi   to Lord Brahma,
And  your own protective  power called Mahalakshmi   to Lord Vishnu

4. Gaurim  maha kalyaabhidhaam  cha    dathwa a,
SAmhara  sakthim  gireesaaya   matha  ,
Navaksharam  mantharamudheerayanthi,
Badhanjalim sthaan  smitha poorvaMathdha

4.Oh mother then   you gave  Gowri   , who is,
Your power of destruction  to Lord Shiva,
And you told    all of them who were standing ,
With  folded hands   and  were chanting Navakshara mAnthra.

5.Brahan hare rudra madheeya   sakthi,
Thrayena dathena  sukham bavantha,
Brahmanda sarga sdhithi samharatheescha,
Kurvanthu may   sasanayaa   vineethaa.

5.Hey Brahma  , Hey  Vishnu   , Hey Lord shiva,
Obeying my orders , all the three  of you,
Along with three  Sakthis   that you got now,
Start looking after creation, upkeep,
 And destruction  of this universe

6.Manyaa bavaddhi khalu sakthayo may,
Syaath  sakthi heenam   sakalam  vinindhyam,
Smaretha maam   santhathamevamukthvaa,
Prasthapayaamasidha thaam strimoorthin.

6.You have to  respect  my   Sakthis  for without,
Them   ,  everything    will get   a bad name  ,
Always meditate  on me, saying like this,
She bid farewell   to those divine  trinity

7.Nathwaa thrayasthe bhavathim nivruthaa,
Pumsthwam   gathaa  aaroruhur  vimanam,
SAdhya sthrirodha sa sudha samudhro,
Dweebho b vimanascha   thiro babhoovu

7. All the three of them saluted  her and took leave,
They who again became males  got in to the air vehicle,
And immediately    disappeared   from there and,
The ocean of nectar , Manidweepa and air vehicle   disappeared..

8.Yekarnave   pankaja sannidhou  cha,
Hathasure   they khalu   thasdhivamsa,
Drusham  nu sathyam   kimu budhi moha,
Swapno   nu kim vethi  cha na vyajaanan,

8.They who were standing in the water of deluge,
Near the lotus flower  , where  they killed the Rakshasas,
Were not  clearly kowing  whether   what had happened,
Was truth  , weakness of their intellect or a dream.

9.THathsthrayasthe   khalu  sathya loka,
Vaikunta kailasa kruthadhivasaa,
BRahmanda srutyaadhishu  datha    chitha,
Sthvaam   sarva  sakthamabajantha devi

9.Oh Goddess   afterwards  those three   started  living,
In Sathya loka, Vaikunta    and Kailasa and started,
Getting engaged in creation, upkeep   and destruction,
And also praying   you mother  who  had the form of all Sakthis.

10.Sudha samudram   taralormamalam,
Sthanam  mani dweepa manopamam they,
Manche nishannam   bhavathim na    chithe,
Pasyaani   thry devi nama praseedha

10. I would  like   to see in my mind , the ocean of nectar,
Where  tides would   be always   beating, Manidweepa,
Which is your  unmatched   place  of residence,

And you    sitting  on your cushions,My salutations to you.

 (Once sage Narada   wanted to know , the   principle behind creation and he   asked Lord Brahma , his father about it  .Lord Brahma replied to   him in detain emphasizing Parasakthi is responsible for it and she gets it done  through the trimuthies   though she lives in the middle of the ocean of nectar, This is given in the seventh chapter   of the third  book of Devi Bhagawatha,)

1.Sri  narada   padmaja meka dhaaha,
Pithastwaya srushtamidham   jagath kim,
Kim Vishnunaa  vaa giressanaa vaa kim,
Makarthrukam   vaa sakaleswara   ka

1.Once sage Narada approached  Lord Brahma,
And asked him, “Is this world made by you?
Is it Lord Vishnu, Is it by  Lord  Shiva,
Or is not  not created by any? Who is the greatest God?

2.Itheeritho aja suthamaha  saadhu,
Prushtam   thwayaa  narada  maam   srunu thwam.
Vibhathi Devi khalu sarva   sakthi,
Swaroopini saa bhuvanasya   hethu,

2.Brahma   replied to him  who asked me like his,
“Oh Narada  , your question is for good only,
Please  hear me, the Goddess  shines  as ,
The combination of all Shakthis,
She is the only cause  of this   world/,

3.Yekam param  Brahma  sada dwitheeya-
MaathmethiVedantha  vachobir ukytha,
Na saa  Oumaan Sthree cha nirgunaa saa,
Sthreethwam   cha pumsathwam  cha  gunair dadhaarhi.

4, The single entity   without another second ,  the essence  of divinity,
And the soui   is the goddess  as described   by the Vedas,
And she is neither a man nor woman and though  she o is property less,
She assumes  properties   and wears  feminineness  and masculinity

5.Gaunaani  cha antha  karanendryaani,
Saa  nirgunaa  avangthi agocharaa  cha,
Saa stotra manthrai   saguna  mahadbhi,
SAmsthuyathe bhaktha  vipannihanthei.

5.Her insides   and sense organs    are very good,
But she is without properties. Unreachable  to words  and intelligence,
She has good in her   and she destroys  dangers of devotees,
And she is one who is prayed  to  by manthras by great souls.

6.Sudhaa samudhre vasathiyamaaryaa,
Dweepe   vichithra adbutha  sakjthi yuktha,
Sarva jagad yad    vasagam  vayam cha  ,
Trimurthiyo  nama   yadasrithaa sma.

6,She who is a gentle woman   lives  in an island,
On the  ocean of nectar with wonderful power.
We who are  famous of trinity   of Gods also know,
That the world is under her control and worship her.

7.Thadatha  sakthi r thraya  maathra bajaaa,
Strimurthya puthra   vayam vineetha,
Thadajnayaa   sadhu  sadaapi  kurmo  ,
Brahmanda sarga  sthithi samhrutheescha.

7.Oh son   we the holy trinity  having the  three ,
SAkthis   given by her , depend upon them,
And as per   her orders and as per rule  look after,
The creation, upkeep and destruction of   the universe.

8.Deivena  moodam  kavimaathanothi,
Saa durbalam   thu prabalam   karothi,
Pangum  giri  langyathe  sa mookam,
Krupavathi chaa aathanuthe suvacham.

8.She who is merciful   makes   wise  that  one,
Who is made as a fool by god, makes famous,
That one   who lacks strength , makes a lame,
One climb the mountains and makes  the dumb speak.

9.Yath   kinchid ajnaayi  mayaa  mahathwam,
Devyaa  sthaduktham   thava  sangrahena,
Sarvathra  thad  varbnaya  vistharena,
Vidhasthwa bakthihrudaye  janaanaam.

9.Whatever little   that  I  know about  her,
Greatness   was taught   to you  by me  ,
In a brief manner.Please   describe uit,
Fully   everywhere and create  devotion in minds of people.

10.Itheerithi ajena   muni prasanna-,
Sthava  prabhaavam   karunardra  chithe,
Vyasam   thadhaanyaamscha yadhochitham  sa,
Prabodhayaamaasa  pavithra   vagbhi.

10,Oh Goddess   who has a mind  melting by mercy,
Those sages who   were  told like this by Brahma ,
Became happy, praised   sage Vyasa   and several others,
And with pure words, told about your  greatness  using proper words.

11.Na me   guru sthava   charithasya   vakthaa,
Ne may   mathi sthava smarainka   sakthaa,
Avaachya vakthahamakarya  karthaa,
Namami   mathascharanambujam they.

11,I  Do not have A Guru who can describe your story,
Nor   do I have a mind  which is  firm on your  meditation,
And due to this, I am doing   what   should not be done,

And oh mother   I salute    your  lotus   like   feet.
