Dasakam 15   Sudarasana Kadha( Devi Darasanam) –Story of Sudarsana(  seeing of Goddess.

(There Sudarshana  learnt your Bheeja manthra and kept on   chanting it>the Goddess  told him to  get married to the princess of Benares..You also told the princess of Benares   to get married to Sudarshana. Though Swayamvara   was arranged for the princess. She sent a letter to Sudarsana  to attend the swayamvara. This occurs in chapter 18 of the  book 3 of  Devi Mahathmya,)

1.Evam thavaiva krupayaa  muni varya  seethe-,

CHaayasritho hathabhaya sa Sudarsanoyam,

Vedha  Dwani sravanapootha   hrudasaramaanthe,

SAmmodhayan  muni janan   vavrudhe kumara

1,Thus only due to your mercy, that boy  called ,

Sudarsana,  grew up in the   cool shade   of the,

Sages hermitage , without fea, always hearing ,

The sound  of Vedas   and becoming pure  due to it,

 And making    the sages there   drown in joy.

2.AAbalyamesha muni balaka sangamena,

Kleem kleem mithi easwari   sadaa  thava  bheeja manthram,

Thathrocchachara krupayaaswa pura kadachi-.

Davir bhoovidha muni janaan   vavrudhe   kumara.

2.There he  due to the company   of sons   of sages,

Always  used to Chant “Kleem, kleem” which is your root  manthra,

And  you taking mercy on him, once you  appeared  before him,

And  when he   saluted you  , you told him like this.

3.Preethosmi  they sutha  jaga jjanani mavehi,

Maam   sarva  kama varadhaam   thava  badramasthu,

Chandraananam   sashi kalaam  vimalaam  subaho  ,

Kaseeswarasya thanayaam   vidhanodwaha   thwam.

3,“Oh Son, I am pleased  with you  and please understand,

That  I am the   mother of universe   who fulfills  all desires,

Let  good happen to you.You please   get married  following,

All rules to  the daughter  of Kasi King  , whose name is Sasikala,

Who has  moon like face  and   who is bereft of all  blemishes.

4.Nashtaa  bhaveyrachiranaa thavari varghaa,

Rajayam cha    yairapahrutham  punartesksyasi  thwam,

Mathru dwayena sachivaischa   samam   swadhamaan,

Kuryaa  sadhethi  samudheerya thirodha dhada.

4.Your enemies   would all die   without much time delay,

And the kingdom usurped   by them will become yours again,

You then live with both your mothers  and ministers  happily,

Following   all Dharmas   always” Saying this   she disappeared.

5. Swapne   thwayaa  sashikalaa  kadithasdhi  bhara-,

Dwajasrame  pradhitha kosala   vamsa  jaathaa,

Dheemasan  sudarsanas ithi   druva sandhi puthra,

Yebam  pathim vrunu   thavasthu   shubham   sadhethi.

5.”Again you   appeared  in dream of Saikala    and told her,

“The noble Sudarsana born in the famous KOsala dynasty,

Is the son of Druva sandhi and  lives  in the hermitage  ,

Of Bharadwaja.Choose him as your husband ,

And you would then lead   a very happy life.”

6.SWappanubhoothsmnrutham    kimrutham    na vethi,

Sa[aththidhatha thu  mathimanyapi  na vyaajannath,

Prushtaath   sudarasana kadhaam  sumukhi dwijaatha saa,

Sruthwaa anuraktha hrudayaiva babhoova   devi.

6.She who awoke , though    she was intelligent   was not sure,

Whether  what she  experienced  in her dream was true or false.

Oh Goddess , she who was  pretty , Asked  a Brahmin  about,

Sudarshana’s story and   fell in love    with him.

7,Jnathwaa  subahuridamaakula maanasasthaa,

Masman nivruthi yithamasu  saheshta pathnyaa,

Kruthwaa  o prayathnamakhilam viphalam   cha  pasya-,

NNichaa swayamvara  vidhim  hithameva  mene.

7.Subahu who came   to know about it became worried,

And along with his loving wife tried   to  change  ,

Her opinion speedily  and seeing   that everything is useless,

And decided that SWayamvara where the bride ,

Marries    whomsoever   she likes   is better.

8.Kaschith  kadachana   sudarsanamethya vipra,

Praahaagatha sasi kalaa vachasaa ahamathra,

Saa thwaam  bravethi   nrupa puthra jagad jananyaa,

Vachaa  vruthosi   pathismin   thavaiva  daasi.

8.One day A Brahmin met Sudarasana    and told him like this,

“I have come here as per the words  of Sasikala and she wants ,

To tell you, “”Hey prince, As per the words  of the mother ,

Of universe I have   chosen you      as my husband,

And I would   become    your servant  .”

9.Annaaaagathaa nrupathayo vahavasthvamethya,

THeshaam  sudheera mishathaam   naya maam  priyaam they,

Yevam   vadhoo vachana maanaya thaam   susheelam,

Badram  thwasthvidha mudheerya  jagaama  vipra.

9.” Oh courageous one , several kings    have come here.

You also please come here and while  others,

Are Seeing  take me   y to your  place  , while,

Others   are watching”. These   are the words of that bride.

And so please  Bring her   who is    good natured,”

Saying this    that  Brahmin   went away.

10.SWapne  cha jaagrathi   cha  pasyathi bhaktha varya,

Sthvaam  santhatham    thava  vacho madhuram srunoth,

Iswaryamasu  labhathepi  cha mukthi methi  ,

THwad bhakthimeva mama dehi  namo jananyai,

10.A good devotee  sees you only in his dream  and in realty,

And he also always obeys    your   sweet   words.

He gets prosperity  and later  on freedom,

I have only   devotion to you.Oh mother  my salutations.
