Dasakam 28 Sakthyavamana  dosham-The  sin of insulting  the Sakthi.

(Once Shiva and Vishnu fought a war with Asuras called  HAlahalas   and killed them in battle  . They became very proud and became lusterless like trees. Brahma  instructed Daksha and others to pray for them..The goddess  told them that their victory   was due to their consorts who were  her own SAkthis and Vishnu and Shiva insulted them and lost their power.. Goddess Parvathi would be born to Daksha and he has to get her married to Lord Shiva and Goddess Lakshmi   will arise from the ocean of milk, The devas happily  returned back. This story is contained in cHapter 29 of book number 7 of  Devi Bhagwatham.)

1.Halaahalaakhyaana suraan  puraa thu,

Nijagnathur Vishnu harou   ranaanthe  ,

Swenaiva  veeryena   jaya ayamevam,

THo mohitho  darpamavaapathuscha .

1.Once upon   a time Lord Vishnu   and Lord Shiva,

Killed  asuras called Halahalas in the battle field,

Thinking    that this victory    was   only  due to,

Their valour , they  became   very proud.

2,THatho  vidhisthou tharu vadhi cheshtou  ,

THejovaiheenaavabhi veekshyas bheetha,

Nimilithaksha  sakalam  vichinthya  ,

Jaanan suthaan  daksha mukhan uvacha.

2.At that time when they became without,

Luster and movement    like the trees,

Lord Brahma   saw them and got scared ,

Closed his eyes and thought it over,

Understood   everything and ,

Told his sons  like Daksha  the following

3.Puthra harim  pasyatha doorjatim cha,

You nashta sakthi khalu   sakthi koppath.

Thatho jagaddhara yuthosmi yooyam,

SAkthim   thapobhi kurutha  prasannam.

3.”Hey sons,  look at Lord Vishnu  and Lord Shiva  ,

.They have lost their power due to  anger of Goddess  SAkthi,

And so the entire responsibility  of the earth  has come with me,

And so please  do Thapas and make the Goddess  happy.”

4.SAkthe prasaadhena hi poorva vath  thou,

Syaathaam yaso vruddhuranena va syaath,

Sakthischa   yathravatharathya mogha-,

Methadh  kulam yaathi   krutharthadhaam cha

“Only if SAkthi is pleased   they would  become  like earlier,

And   due to that   your fame   also would    grow and,

The clan where SAkthi is born would become great  ,

And that clan  would  grow   up in prosperity  and fame “

5.SAkthe  kadakshai  r jagathosthu bhadra-,

Mevam  nisamayaasu  himadrimethya,

Dakshadayo   dhyana japaadhibhirasthwaa,

Maat=raadhya  bhathyaabdha  sathaani  ninyu.

5.Let the world  become prosperous due to sight of Sakthi,”

And hearing this Daksha   and others speedily   reached,

Himalaya  mountains and with devotion started  doing,

Meditation  and worship and stayed there   for  hundred  years.

6.Drushtaa purasthaisthu nuthaa thwamatda,

Bheethyaaalamaarthyaa cha  hitham dhadhaami ,

Gauri  cha lakshmischa  mamaiva   sakthi ,

They sambhave praag haraye  cha   dathe.

6.And you were   seen by them  and you told them,

There is no need to get scared or sorrow as I  would,

Grant you all that you want. Gowri  and Lakshmi  ,

Are only my powerts and were given to them by me earlier.

7.Thou sakthi sahayyatha yeva   daithyaan,

Nijagnuthu   sathyamidham  thu thaabhyam,

Haa vismrutham sakthysvamana doshadha,

Vinashta sakthi khalu  thaava bhoothaam.

7.They forgot that  they were  able to  kill  those,

Asuras . only by the   help of the sakthis who are  with them,

Alas , due to the crime of   insulting  those SAkthis,

They both   have  lost their strength .

8.Thao  poorvavatrh  sthamiha   sakthirekaa,

Jaayetha dakshasya kule madheyaa,

Ksheerabdhi tho anyaa cha purarir aadhyam,

Gruhnaathu   paschadhitharaam  cha   Vishnu

8.They would both became  immediately  as before,

And one of my Sakthis would be born in clan of Daksha,

And another  Sakthi would rise    up from ocean of milk,

The first   Sakthi would be received  By Lord Shiva,

And the second would  receive the other  Sakthi.

9.SArve  swasakthim paripoojya mayaa,

Bheejaadhi manthraan vidhivajjapantha  ,

Virat swaroopam   mama  roopamethath,

Sachithwaroopam   cha   sadaa  smareth.

9.”All of you worship ypur own Sakthi, Chant,

As per rules  the manthras  of Maya  Bheeja,

And always   meditate  on my universal form,

This form as   well   as my divine   for,”

10.Prayaatha thushtaa  jagathaam shubham syaa-,

Devam  thwamabhaashya thirodadhaadha ,

Karunyathasthe   gireeso harischa,

SAktha vibhoothaam  nijakarma  karthum.

10.”Go back happily and   world would be benefitted ,”

Saying this   you disappeared  and  Lord Shiva,

As well as Lord Vishnu  , due to  your mercy ,

Got power   to do  their respective jobs.

11.MathaKadakshaa mayi  they pathanthu,

Maa maasthu may sakthyavamana paapam,

Sarvaan  swadharmaan   karavaanya bheetho,

Badhram mama syaath sathatham namasthe,

11,. Oh Mother , let your   sight   come and reach me,

Let the sin of  insulting the sakthi   never   come to me,

Let me able to fearlessly practice   my Dharma,

Let always  good come to me.My salutations  to you.
