Dasakam 33 Gauthama Kadha- Story of sage Gauthama.
(once there was a great famine
on earth. All the people went to the
hermitage of sage Gauthama. He prayed to the Goddess and got them a wish fulfilling vessel. Theot problems were solved
. Sage Narada came there chanting Gayathri manthra and living his company and learning Manthras from him, the world
became again fertile and their problems
were solved. This story occurs in
Chapter 9 of book 12 of Devi

1.Sakra puraa jeeva ganasya karma-,
Doshaath samaa panchadasa kskamaayaam,
Vrushti na chakre dharni cha sushka-,
Vaapeethadagaadhi jalasayaa aaseeth.
1.Once upon a time due to
the evil fate of living beings,
For fifteen years Indra did not sent rain to the earth,
In the earth, all the ponds, lakes
and other water bodies dried.
2.Sasyaani shushkaani khagaan mugaamscha.
Bhukthwaa apyutrupthaa
kshidhayaa trushaa cha,
Nipeedithaa marthya saveeni
chaaho,
Marthyaa anishtyaapi
bunjathe sma.
2.The suffering people not getting satisfied,
After eating dried plants, birds and
animals,
Were greatly affected by hunger and thirst,
And though they did not like ate
dead bodies of humans.
3.Kshudhaardhithaa sarva janaa
mahaapadha,
Vimukthikaamaa milIthaa kadhachith,
THapodhanam Gauthamamethya bhakthyaa,
Prushtaa munim
swaagamahethu moochoo.
3,All the people caught in the grips of hunger ,
Joined together
and desiring to get freed,
From this great danger approached with devotion,
The sage Gauthama and told him
about why they came?
4.Vijnaayaa sarva muniraat krupaalu,
Sampoojya gayathraabhidhaam
shive thwaam,
Prasaadhyaa drushtwaa cha
thavaiva hasthaadh,
Lebhe navam kamadha pathramekam.
4.That merciful great sage
after understanding everything,
Oh Goddess who does auspicious
things, understanding you as Gayathri,
Worshipped well and pleased
you and
got a vessel,
From your hands which gives
anything that is desired.
5.Dukoola souvarna vibhooshananna-,
Vasthraadhi gaavo mahishaadhayascha,
Yadh yajjanaorepsithamaasu thath thath,
Thathpaathratho devi
samuddha bhoova.
5.Oh Goddess from that vessel
they got,
Silk , gold ornaments, food ,
cloths and other things,
Cows , buffaloes
and other such things ,
And whatever the people desired, speedily
6.Rogo na dainyam na bhayam na
chaiva,
Janaa midho modhakaraa babhoovu,
They Gauthamasyograthapa prabhaava,
Mucchair jagusthaam karunaardrathaam cha .
6.There were no diseases , and no sufferings,.
There was not even a little fear
and all the people,
Were happy and publicly started
praising,
The strength of THapas and mercy
of sage Gauthama.
7.Yevam samaa dwadasa thathra sarve,
Nithyu kadhachin milItheshu
theshu,
Sri Naradho devi shashaeeva gayaa-,
Thryaascharya sakthim prugnannavaapaa
7.Like this for twelve
years all people lived there,
with comfort, and once oh
Goddess, sage Narada,
Singing about the
wonderful power,
Of Gayatri mantra came there
like a moon.
8.SA poojithasthathra nishanna
ucchair,
Nivedhyaa thaam Gauthama keerthi
lakshmim,
Sabhaasu sakradhi surai prageethaam,
Jagaama santho jahrushu kruthajnaa.
8.After hospitably being treated, he sat there,
And told them that
the great fame of sage Gautama ,
Was being loudly praised in the
assembly,
Of Indra and other devas and went back,
And the people gratefully
became very happy.
9.Kaale dharaam vrushtisamrudha sasyaam,
Drushtwaa janaa Gauthamaanamantha,
Apruchaya they sajjana sangapruthaa,
Mudhaa javaath swaswagruhaani jagmu.
9.Those people due to good company
saw that,
It rained in proper time in the
earth and saw that,
Plabts and tress have grown
up well and so,
Took leave of sage Gautama and went back to their homes
10.Dukhani they santhu yatho
mano may,
Prathaptha sangattitha hema
shobhi,
Vishuddhamasthu thwayee
badhaa raago,
BHavani they devi namosthu
bhooya.
10.Let all sorrows
come to me and let my mind,
Get purified like , well beaten
shining hot gold.
Oh Bhavani let me develop devotion towards you,
And I am offering salutations to
you again and again.
