Dasakam 35   Anugraha  Vaichithryam-  The different blessings

(This chapter   deals with several stories   of the Goddess  in which due to her  mercy,  she solves many problems of people. These are  taken from here  in there  from Devi Bhagawatham)

1.BHagyodhaye  threeni  bhavanthi noonam,

Manushyathaa sajjana   sangamascha,

Thwadheeya  mahathmya kadhaa sruthischa,

Yathapumaasthavath pada BHathimethi

1.Humanness , company of good people and,

Hearing stories about   your greatness are,

The three which one gets  only when he is lucky,

For only through these  one  gets devotion to your feet

2.Thatha praseedhasyakhilatha artha  kaamaan,

Bhakthasya   yachasyabhayam  cha Mathaa,

Kshmaam  Kruthagassu  karoshi chaaryo-,

Ranyonya   vairam   samayasya  neehaa.

2.Oh mother, You get pleased   due to them,

You fulfill desires of devotees   as well as,

Grant him  protection by that, you also,

Observe patience towards those   who do mistakes,

And you who do not have    any desires,

Also remove the mutual enmity between two enemies.

3.Dushkeerthi bheethyaa kumaaryaa,

Thyaktham thatinyaaam  suthamarkka labdham,

Sampraarthitha thwam pripalayanthi,

Praadarsya   swam  karunaa pravaaham.

3.When fearing notoriety   a  maid called  Prudha,

Worshipped you well,  nurtured  the son of Sun God well,

And   made her know  the tide  of the mercy of yours.

4.Suthaan   kuru kshethra rane hathaan swaan,

Dhidhukshave mathruganaaya  Krishna  ,

SAmprathiths sthava  karunabhishiktha,

Pradarsaya  sarvaan   samthosha yachcha.

4.When the mothers were  suffering  with the desire,

To see their sons  who were killed  in Kurukshethra war,

AS per your request the sage Veda Vyasa anointed,

With your mercy, showed them to their mothers,

And consoled   them  also.

5.Vanik susheela khalu  nashta vitho  ,

Vrutham  charan  praang navarathramaarya,

Thwaam devi sampoojya   daridra bhavaan,

Muktha  kramaadh   vitha   samrudhi papa.

5.Ogh Goddess   once upon a time  a merchant ,

Called Susheela , lost all his  property and became  poor,

And after worshipping you well he  got rid ,

Of poverty and step by step became a  rich man,

6.Devaduho devi  rane thwayaivaa,

Daithyaa  hathaa  gaarhitha  dharma sastraa,

Prahlaadha mukhyaan asuraan subhakthaan,

DEvaamscha  santhyaktha ranaanakaarshi.

6.Oh Goddess, you only killed  in war   those Asuras,

Who were belittling Dharma Saathras as wellas,

Giving troble to the  devas and you also made ,

The devas who were your devotees  and ,

Asuras  like Prahlaadha   to forsake the war.

7.Purandhare   papa  thirohithe thath-,

Sthaanaadhgi roodaanaa hushaath  smaraarthath,

Bheethaa sachi  thwaam paripoojya  drushtwaa,

Pathim kramaadh  bheetha   vimukthi  papa.

7.When Indra   was hiding due  to sins and when,

His position was usurped by the passionate Nahusha,

And when the scared  Indrani worshipped you well,

She was  able to locate   her husband   ,

And step by step  get rid  of all her fear.

8.saptho vasistena  nimir  videho,

Bhoothwaapi  devi  thwadanugrahena,

Jnanam  param praaps nime  prayogaa,

Nimmeshino  jeeva ganaa bhavanthi.

8.Oh Goddess, when Nimi lost his   body  ,

Due to the curse of  sage Vasishta,

Due to your blessing , he got divine   wisdom,

And due his power  beings got  the ability,

To open and close their eyelids .

9.Haa bhargavaa lobha vikopa chithai,

Prapeedithaa   haihaya vamsa  jaathai,

Himadrimaapthaa bhavathim prapoojyaa,

Prasaadhya bheetha khalu  mukthi maapu.

9.Alas   , Due to the trouble caused   by the angry,

And avaricious   Hehayas, when the  BHargavas,

Went to Himalayas , worshipped  and pleased  yoi,

You set them free   of their   great fear.

10.Dasrou  yuvaanam  chyavanam  pathim cha,

SAmaana rooopaanabhidrusya mugdhaa,

SAthi sukanyaa  thava samsruthaayaa ,

BHakthyaa  prasaadhaath swapathim vyaajanaath.

10.When the two young Nasathyas and her  husband,

Chyavana appeared  in the same   garb,

The virtuous Sukanya with devotion meditated on you,

And due to your blessing was able  to identify her husnband

11.Sathyavrutho  vipravadhum prasahyaa,

Harthaa  nirastho  janakena rajjyath,

Vasisg hta  saptho api   thaw prasaadath,

Rajye abhishiktho adha divam gathascha.

11.When Sathyavrutha abducted a  Brahmin maid,

He was   driven away  from  his kingdom by his father ,

And he  was also cursed  by sage   Vasishta but,

Due to your   grace he was mage the king  and attained later the heavens

12.Ha ha Hariscandra nrupo  vipathsu,

Magna sathaakshim  para  devathaam thvaam,

SAmsmruthya sadhya swa vipinnivrutha,

Karunyathasthe   sura   lokamaapa.

12,Alas the king Harischandra got caught  in several ,

Troubles but when he   meditated   on you,

Who is famous   as the hundred eyed  Goddess,

He escaped   from those dangers,

And due to your mercy   reached the heavens later.

13,Agasthya poojaam   pari gruhya devi,

Vibhaasi  vindhyaadri nivasini   thwam,

Drakshye  kadhaa  thwam mama dehi bhakthim,

Karunya  moorthe sathatham namasthe.

13,Oh Goddess , After you accepted the   worship ,

Done by sage Agasthya, you shined   as one who lives,

On Vindhya   mountains, When will I be able to see you?

Please give me devotion, Oh merciful one , I salute you .
