Dasakam 18  Rama Kadha-Rama’s   story.

(When the devas were   troubled by Ravana Lord Vishnu took incarnation as Lord Rama.  On the day when he was to be made the king, he went to forest along with his wife  ansd Brother. There Ravana abducted his wife. Sage Narada  reminded Rama  that he is Lord Vishnu and his wife    was Vedavathi,He advises him to worship the goddess   for nine nights.Goddess   appeared before him her Sakthi and Rama  killed Ravana   with that  taking help of Hanuman and other  monkeys. And later he became  king of ayodhya  .These are told in  chapter 19 and 20 of the book 3  of Devi BHagwatham.)

1.Sooryanvaye Dasaradhi  rameso,,

Ramaabhiadhobhood Bharathodha Jaatha,.

Jyeshtanuvarthi khalu  lakshmanascha,

Sathrugna naamopiJagadwidhathri.

1.The consort of Rema took birth in sun  clan,

As the son of Dasaratha and was named as Rama,

Bharatha also was born and Lakshmana   who ,

Follows  his elder v brother and Sathrugna   were also born.

2.Vimathru vakhyojithss tha  Rajhya bhogi,

Rama  saseetha saha lakshmanascha,

Charan  jada  valkalavaan aranye ,

Godavari theerra mavapa   , devi.

2.Oh Goddess  , as per the words   of his step mother,

Rama forsook the  h joy of kingship and along with,

Lakshmana    and Sita wore   tuft   and bark   cloth,

Walked   and    reached   the  banks of Godavari river.

3.Tham vanchayan  Ravana yethya maayi,

Jahara  seethaam   yathi roopa   dhaari,

Ramasya   pathni virahutharasya ,

Sruthwaa  vilaapam  vanamaapya  rodith.

3.The magical Ravana   wearing   the f garb of a sage,

Came and deceived Ramas and abducted   Sita and

Hearing the wail of Rama   due to parting  ,

With his   wife  , even the    forest wailed.

4.Sri Naradho abhyethya jagaadha rAmam,

Kim  Rodashi   praakrutha marthya   thulya,

THwam  Ravanam   hanthu  mihava  theerno  ,

Hari kadham  vismaraseedhamaarya.

4.Sage Narada came   there and   told Rama,

“Why are  you sorrowing like  an ordinary man?

You are  Lord Vishnu    who has   been born here ,

For the sake   of killing Ravana, Oh Lord Vishnu,

How did you    forget   this   fact?”

5.Kruthe yuge  Vedha c vatheethi   kanyaa,

Harim   sruthijnaa  parimaapthumaicchath,

Saa pushkara  dweepa gathaa  thasvadha-,

Mekaakini   theevra padschakaraa.

5, In the   Krutha yuga a maid  called  Vedavvathi,

Who was a scholar of Vedas, went   alone,

To an island called   Pushkara   and did penance ,

For the sake of Lord Vishnu   becoming  her husband.

6.Sruthwaa   thayaa abhoodha sareera vaak –they,

Hari  pathirbhavini janmani syaath,

Nisamya  thadh hrushtamanaasthadhaiva,

Kruthww  thapasthathra ninaaya  kaalam,

6. “She heard   a voice from telling her,

You would get Lord   Vishnu    as your husband ,

 In your next birth and hearing that   with joy,

She went on dpoing penance  and lived   there only.”

7.Thaam Ravana kama saraardhitha sam-

Schakarshe   saa cha sthavanena  devim,

Prasaadhya   kopaaruna lochanaabhyaam,

Nireekshayatham   nischala  mathathana.

7.Ravana   in passion   for her , pulled her,

And she  made the goddess pleased  by her prayers,

And with red eyes    due to great anger,

She stared   at him and he became  motionless

8,Sasaapa   tham cha   thwamare  madhardhe,

Sabaandhavo  rakshasa  namkhya seethe,

Swam  kaunapa sprushtamasbdha   deham,

Yogena  sadhyo   vijahou sathee  saa.

8.She also cursed him “Hey Rakshasa,

You along   with your   relatives   would meet  ,

With destruction for my sake and she  left ,

Her soul , so that she can give up  ,

Her body which     was tainted   by his touch.”

9.Jathaa  puna saa  Mithilesa  kanyaa,

Kaale   Harim thwaam  pathimaapa deivaath,

Sa hanyathaam  sathwaramaachaarendra-,

Sthannaasa  kalasthu   samagathascha.

9,.”It Was she who was born later  as daughter  ,

Of the  king of Mithila and due to grace   of God,

Abd she later   chose you as husband ,  as you are Lord Vishnu,

Please  swiftly destroy  that  king  of Rakshasas,

For the   time of his  destruction has come.”

10.Thadarthamaaradhaya loka naadham,

Navaha yajena kruthopavaasa,

Prasaadhya thaameva suraa  naraascha,

Kamaan labhanthe shubhameva they syaath.

10.For the sake  following   starvation as penance,

Worship the    Goddess   using Navaha  Yajna.

All devas and humans pray  only   that   godddss,

And get desires   fulfilled and Good only would come to you.”

11,Ithyuchivamsam  muimeva  Rama,

AAcharamaakalpya salakshanasthwaam,

Sampoojya   susmeramukhim  vrythaanthe  ,

Simhaadhi roodaam  cha puro dadarsa.

11.Chosing Narada   who told him like    this as Guru,

That Rama   along with Lakshmana worshipped you,

And at the end  of penance saw you   sitting  .

On the lion    with   a slow    smile.

12.Bhathyaa  natham  tham  druthamatdha  Rama  ,

Haristhvamamsena   madajnayaiva,

Jaatho  narathwena    dasasya  hathyai,

Dadami   yjachakthimaham   thaveha.

12.When he sppedily saluted   you  , You  ,

Made him remember   about you saying,

“Oh Rama you  are  Lord Vishnu and as  per my wishes,

You  took this incarnation to kill Ravana,

And I am now giving   you the power for that.

13.Kruthwaathavokthim   sa hanuma   dadhyai,

Saakam   kapeendrai   krutha   sethu bandha,

Lankaam   pravishto  hatha  Ravanaadhy a,

Puro mayodhyamagamath   saseetha.

13.He after  hearing you , built    a bridge on the sea,

Along with Great monkeys like Hanuman,

Entered Lanka, killed   Ravana   and others,

And  along with Sita entered   the city of Ayodhya.

14, Haa devi   bhakthir   naahi  may Guruscha,

Na chaiva   vasthu grahane  patuthwam,

Sath sangathischaapi   na they  pathanthu ,

Krupaa  kadakshaa  mayi they namosthu.

14.Hey Goddess ,  alas I do not have devotion,

I do not have A guru , nor   do I have  the smartness,

To understand   anything b nor do I have  the chance ,

Or even capacity  for a goods company,

Let your  merciful look fall on me  .My salutations to you.
