Dasakam 29  Devi Peedothpathi  -The incarnation  of the Goddess.

(SAthi was born in Daksha’s  house.She was given in marriage to Lord Shiva.SAthi gave up her Body. The very sad Shiva took her body   and  wandering  all over.Lord Vishnu  shot arrows at the body so that  the pieces of the body fell in 108  placesShiva started a great Thapas  meditating on you..This story   is also in chapter 29 of book 7 )

1.adhaikadhaa adrusyatha Daksha gehe,

Saaktham   mahasthacchha babhoova  Bala,

Vijnaaya the sakthimimaam   jagathsu,

SArvopi  hrushtaa  abhavath   kshanascha.

1.Afterwards one day  , in the home   of Daksha,

A power    which is Shakthi  became visible and,

It became a girl child  and the world   becameoverh joyed,

Knowing the child was Sakthi and  celebrated it as festival.

2.Daksha  swageha pathithaam  chakara,

Naamnaa sathim  poshayathi   sma  thaam sa,

Smaran   vachasthe gireesaaya  kale,

Pradhaya  tham svow  samatoshayachcha.

2.Dakshi named the girl   who came to his house as  SAthi,

And remembering your words at the   proper time,

Gave her to Lord shiva   ad made both of them happy.

3.Yevam Shiva   sakthiyutha punascha,

Bhabhoova   gachathsu   dhineshu daksha,

Devaath  shiva dweshamavaapa deham,

Thath poshitham  swam  vijahou  sathee cha.

3,Like This Lord Shiva  again joined    with SAkthi,

And after some passage of timem, due to  fate,

Daksha became a hater of  Lord Shiva and  ,m

Goddess Sathi gave up  her body nurtured by Daksha.

4.Dukhena   kopena cha haa satheethi,

Muhur  vadannu udhadha dhara   deha,,

Babraama   sarvathra  hara    sureshu,

Pasyathsu  saarngeem   shiva manva charitha.

4.With great Sorrow   and anger  Shiva shouting,

“Ha SAthi” again and again, wandered   all over,

Carrying the body of Sathi    with him  and  when,

DEvas were watching Vishnu followed him ,

Carrying along with him , his Sarnga   bow.

5.Rudraam  savinyaastha sathi sareeram,

Vishnu saroughai bahusacha kartha,

Yekaikasa  pethuramushya khandaa,

Bhoomou Shive   saashta satham  sthaleshu.

5.Lord Vishnu using several arrows shot at different times.,

Cut the body of Sathi which  was carried by  Rudra,

In to several pieces and Oh consort of Shiva  ,

Oh giver of auspiciousness  those  pieces ,

Fell in one hundred and eight pieces  on earth.

6.Yatho yatha pethurime  sthalaani,

Sarvaani  thaani pradhithaani  loke,

Imaani  poothaani bhavani   devi,

Peedaani   sarvagaharaani  bhanthi.

6,In whichever places these pieces of the body fell,

They all   became  very famous in the world,

Oh Bhavani, Oh wife of Shiva, these  holy places,

Became Sakthi peetas  which removed all the sins.

7,Thwamekamevadwayamathra  binna,

Naamani   druthwaa  khalu   manthra thanthrai,

Sampoojyamaanaa  sarana gathaanaam,

Bukthim   cha mukthim  cha dadhaasi matha.

7.Oh mother you are  one  entity   without second but,

You   assumed different names   in these  different places,

And you accept the worship of those who surrender to you,

Using Manthras and Thanthras and  you grant them,

Prosperity in this world   as well as  salvation at their end.

8,Nirvinnachitha sa sathi viyogaath,

Shiva   samsmarathwaam  kuha chinishannaa,

SAmadhimagro abhavadesha   loka,

Sakthim vinaa haa  viraso alasascha.

8,Lord Shiva  who got greatly pained   by the separation,

Of SAthi , sat in a place  and started thapas  thinking about you,

And got in to Samadhi and this world  without SAkthi,

Became  uninteresting  and without luster

9.Chinthaakulaa  mohadheeyo viseernna,

Thoshaa maha roga nipeedithaascha,

Soubhagya heenaa  vihathabhilaashaa,

SArve  sadodvigrahadho  babhoovu.

9.All people   became    drowned in worries, lost intelligence,

Lost happiness, were affected   by great diseases,

Became  those without prosperity, became ones  ,

Whose desires were  not fulfilled and found to be  always sorrowing.

10.Shivopi  sakthyaa sahitha  karothi,

Sarva viyukthascha thayaa  jada syaath,

Maa maasthu  may sakthi viyoga  yeshaa,

Dasosmi  bhooyo varadw namasthe.

10.Even Shiva is able to do  things   when  he is with Sakthi,

And when he is separated from her  he becomes lifeless,

Let   the separation from Sakthi  never happen to me,

I am your slave, Oh giver of boons I salute you.
