Dasakam 19 Bhoomya
dukham- sorrow of the earth.
(The earth when troubled by the heavy load of evil people
went to lOrd Brahma and who along with
other devas took her to Lord Vishnu. He
told them , though he has wiped the hheavy burden of earth earlier it was due to power and blessings of Goddess.
And they all prayed to the Goddessand she told Lord Vishnu be born as Lord
Krishna the son pof Vasudeva and she requested the devas and their wives to be
born in earth to help Krishna. This occurs
in the chapter 18 of Book 4 of
Devi Mahathmyam)

1.Puraa dharaa
durjjana bharadheena,
Samam surabhyaa vibhudaischa devi,
Vidhim samethya
swadasam uvacha,
Sa chanayath ksheera payo nidhim thaan.
1.Oh Goddess , in
olden times suffering due the evil
people,
The earth along with kama dhenu and devas
Approached Lord Brahma and told him about her problems
And he took
her to
the ocean of milk.
2.Sthuthe
hari padma bhavena
sarvam,
Jnathwaa
akhilaan sanjali bandhamaaha,
Brahmaan surran naiva vayam swathanthraa,
Deivam baleeya kimaham karomi.
2.Lord Vishnu who
was prayed to by Lord Brama,
Understood everything, with folded hands
in salute,
Told all of them,
“Oh Brahma, Oh devas, none of us,
Are independent as the
God called fate ,
Is very
powerful, what can I do
now?”
3.Devivena neethaa
khau mathsya korma-,
Kolaadhi janmaaa
anya vasohamaaptha ,
Nrusimha bhavaadhi bheekarthwam,
Hayaananathwaath
parihasyathaam cha.
“I was only lead by that God and took incarnations,
Of fish, tortoise
as well as boar,
I became the man
–lion which was fierce,
And Hayagreeva
which was laughed at.”
4.Jatha punar dasaradheescha dukhaad,
Dukham gathoham
vipinantha chaari,
Rajyam cha
nashtam dayithaa hruthaa may,
Pithaa mrutho haa
pLavagaa sahaya.
4.I was again born
as son of Dasaratha, wandered,
All around forests and was travelling
from ,
One sorrow to other, I lost my country,
Lost my father and my wife was
abducted,
And those who
came to help me where
monkeys.
5.Kruthwaa
ranam bheemam arim nihathya ,
Pathneem cha rajyam
cha punar graheethwaa ,
Dashtaapavasdhena
pathivruthaam thaam,
Vihaya haa
duryasasa abhishiktha.
5.I got engaged in
a fierce war , killed the enemy,
Recovered my wife
as well as country and due to,
An evil man’s words send
out her who was virtuous
And due to that I was anointed by notoriety.
6Yadhi
swathanthrosmi mamaiva marthir,
Na syaad vayam karma
kalapa badhaa,
Saddapi mayaa
vasagaa sthathothra,
Mayyadhinadham saranam vrujaama.
6.Had I been independent such sorrows ,
Would not happen to me and we all of us,
Are subject to the
tie of Karma,
And servants of
Maya and so let us,
Surrender now to the Goddess who is beyond Maya.
7.Itheerithair bhakthi vinamra seeshair,
Nimilithakshair vibudhai
smathaa thwaam,
Prabadha
sandhyeva japaa sumaangi ,
Thamo nohanthri
cha pura sthidha aatdha.
7.When he told
like this, were prayed to ,
By the devas with bent head due to,
Devotion and with
closed eyes and you stood,
Before them like dawn, with a colour of red
hibiscus,
And as one who would remove the darkness called ignorance,
8,Jaane dasaam vo
vasudeva puthro,
Bhoothwaa harir dusht
janaan nihantha,
Thad artha sakthi rahamasya Dadhyaa-,
Mamsena jaayeya cha
nanda puthri.
8.You told, “I
know about your problems,
Lord Vishnu would be born as son of Vasudeva,
And kill all evil people and the needed powers ,
To him would be given by me and also,
I would be born as
the daughter of Nanda gopa.”
9.Yooyam cha
sahayyamamushya karthu-,
Mamsena devaa dayithaa
samethaa,
Jaayedhvamoorvyaa
jagathesthu badraa-,
Metham
vinirdisya thirodadhadha.
9.”Oh Devas , you
along with your wives,
May please be born
in the earth to help him.
Let good things
happen to you.”
Saying ths you disappeared from there.
10.Vichitha
dushta sura bhava bhaasra,
Nipeeditham may
hrudayam mahesi,
Athravatheerya dhamapakuru thwam,
Mathaa hi may
they varade namosthu.
10.Oh great goddess
my mind is filled up,
With several type
evil characters of the ASuras,
You please be born here
and make them disappear,
You are my mother ,
Oh Goddess who showers,
Several boons , My
salutations to you.
